General Dentistry

At Blue Sky Dental, we offer general dentistry, and all the services patients in Albuquerque need to maintain excellent oral health. No matter where you are with your dental health needs, we can help you achieve your goals of a healthier, more confident smile.

Dr. Corey Woods enjoys getting to know his patients and learning about them and their unique oral health goals. When creating treatment plans for his patients, he considers age, general health, budget, lifestyle, and other factors that might affect their dental treatment decisions.

Improve Your Oral Health with Preventive Dentistry

A healthy smile starts with prevention. If you have a car, you know you need to maintain it with oil changes and services so that it doesn't break down on the road.

Dentistry is similar because it's always easier and less costly to prevent cavities and gum disease rather than wait until they've already damaged your oral health. Preventive dentistry includes:

  • Dental exams
  • Teeth cleanings
  • Gum disease treatment
  • Digital x-rays

We also provide patient education because our goal is to help you understand your oral health and minimize the amount of dental treatment you will need over a lifetime. Using technology like digital x-rays and intraoral cameras lets you see what your dentist sees and gives you the information you need to make empowered decisions about treatment.

We Offer Treatment for Broken, Decayed, and Missing Teeth

You can be confident that our dentist in Albuquerque will provide an honest assessment of your dental needs. Dr. Woods will explain why a particular issue is a threat to your oral health and how treating it will benefit you now and in the future. If Dr. Woods does find one of these issues during your routine dental checkup, he’ll create a personalized treatment plan to resolve it.

We can address a single issue like a cavity or develop a treatment plan that addresses numerous dental issues to get your oral health back on track.

  • Tooth-colored fillings
  • Crowns and bridges
  • Dental implants
  • Dentures and partials
  • Tooth extractions
  • Root canals

Before we ever begin treatment, Dr. Woods will be sure that you understand what to expect each step of the way, including estimating your out-of-pocket expenses and arranging financing if necessary.

Frequently Asked Questions

Your dentist in Albuquerque needs dental x-rays to obtain valuable information about your oral health that he cannot obtain by a visual inspection alone. Digital dental x-rays help Dr. Woods identify cavities, abnormalities in tooth and bone development, bone loss from periodontal disease, infections, and some types of tumors.

Minimal Exposure with Digital X-Rays

Our patients often ask if the radiation from dental x-rays is safe. It’s an important question, but the fact is that all of us are exposed to radiation daily from the air, sunshine, and even soil. The radiation you receive from a full mouth series of dental x-rays with modern digital radiography is approximately equal to a few days of background radiation or the excess radiation you would receive from a cross-country airplane trip.

At Blue Sky Dental, we exclusively use digital x-rays because they expose patients to about 80 percent less radiation than traditional film x-rays.

Dental X-Rays are Safe for Use during Pregnancy

Even the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists deem dental x-rays safe at any stage during pregnancy, noting that delayed treatment, including x-rays, could result in a more serious problem like an infection.

However, we are always abundantly cautious about limiting our patients’ radiation exposure; we always supply a lead apron and limit x-rays taken to those needed for proper and safe diagnoses.

Your Safety is Our Priority at Blue Sky Dental

The health, safety, and well-being of our valued Albuquerque patients are paramount. When we need to take a dental x-ray, we will explain why, what information we hope to obtain, and how it benefits your oral health.

If you have any questions about the safety of dental x-rays or would like to schedule your next dental exam and cleaning, please call Blue Sky Dental.

Intraoral Cameras

With intraoral cameras, we take your dental exam to the next level! Instead of sitting passively while your dentist tells you about your oral health, you can actually watch the exam in progress! Thanks to a small device called an intraoral camera that captures real-time images of your mouth, you can now see exactly what your dentist sees!

Throughout your examination, the images instantly appear on your chairside monitor as Dr. Woods points out what’s happening with your teeth and gums. An intraoral camera is an invaluable tool because the information it gives you allows you to understand your unique oral health needs and empowers you to make confident decisions about treatment.
