Crowns and Bridges
At Blue Sky Dental, Dr. Corey Woods provides solutions for patients who want to improve their oral health and enhance their smiles through dentistry.
For some of our patients, that means restoring comfort and chewing function with dental crowns, while others may need a dental bridge to replace missing teeth.
Crowns, Bridges, and Veneers
First, let’s take a quick look at how each tooth restoration works and why our dentist recommends them.
Dental Crowns Protect Teeth
Sometimes patients come to us with a broken tooth or a cavity that is too large to repair with a filling. In this case, Dr. Woods would likely recommend a porcelain dental crown, also referred to as a "cap," to strengthen and protect it.
Once we place the final dental crown on your tooth, it will blend perfectly with your smile. The crown creates a sturdy new surface, protects the tooth from further damage, and allows you to chew fully on it again.
Our dentist might also recommend a dental crown to protect a tooth after a root canal and restore function and appearance to a dental implant.
Dental Bridges Replace Missing Teeth
Missing teeth are all too common, but today there are many modern tooth replacements, including dental bridges. A bridge replaces one or two missing teeth by placing an artificial tooth in the gap and securing it to adjacent teeth with dental crowns.

iTero Digital Scanner
If you have ever had dental impressions taken, you probably recall that it was a pretty messy, uncomfortable process. Biting down on a big tray full of gooey impression material and fighting your gag reflex while waiting for it to set is nobody’s idea of fun!
Digital impressions at our Albuquerque dental office taken with our iTero digital scanner completely do away with the traditional process. Now taking dental impressions involves using a handheld digital scanner and passing it over your teeth. Our dentist uses digital impressions to capture virtual 3-D images that we can use with CEREC same-visit crown technology and ensure a precise fit for dental restorations like crowns, veneers, inlays, and onlays.
